12 month % gain/loss Discrepancy

Most of my accounts contain a single mutual fund. Nevertheless, in the various portfolio views there are 2 lines. No problem-except when market value, cost basis and gain are the same in both lines, but

12-month Gain/Loss (%) is different. Can anyone out there explain this anomaly?

The various return computations (% YTD, IRR, etc) are the weakest part of Quicken. To understand them, please read the help associated with them. In particular, understand the IRR computation is the basis for many of these and that routine requires that you have the security price on the day before the period in question begins and the last day of the period. So, one day in the dates involved can make a big difference.

That area is so whacky that I just ignore it, myself.

Like I said, I believe Quicken's logic is nutty. I most certainly won't attempt to explain it or defend it. You need to talk to Intuit.
