2 Minor annoyances in Q11

Q11 silently started storing backup files on my desktop rather than my selected flash drive. Easy to change, but WHY?

Also, the cleared status of a transaction was easy to change by clicking on it. Now in Q11 you must pick from a menu.

I have not yet verified whether the Find and Replace for transaction groups has been repaired.

Happened to me as well, and it refused to add the date of the backup to the file name, even though I kept checking the block.

I fixed through brute force. Kept telling it where to put the backup and add the date. It finally did.

Yep - a bug in the lastest fix. Will be fixed in the next fix, but they too late for those like you and me. Already reported here in this NG, btw.

Annoying, I do agree. Another one of these things they change the existing user interface without regard to those that like it the way it was. I am not saying never to enhance, but if you do, keep an option to make it the way it used to be; in this case, the 'fix' is more keystrokes, ergo, less 'intuitive'. This is exactly the sort of thing that brings on bloatware.

I too preferred the old way of modifying the transaction "Cleared Status".

I'm only guessing; but many users have reported that "somehow" their current reconcile opening balance was not the same as their previous reconcile ending balance.

Since the reconcile opening balance is the net of all reconciled transactions (those transactions with a "Cleared Status" of "R") at the time the reconcile is started ... anything that changed that amount (including altering the "Cleared Status" of a transaction to, or from, "R") since the previous reconcile, would change the current reconcile opening balance.

Intuit may have felt that making it more difficult to accidentally change the "Cleared Status" would help some users from running into the "changed reconcile opening balance" problem.

Not surprisingly, when users experience problems with Quicken they don't understand, they often ring up Intuit to ask/complain about their problem ... adding to Intuit's cost of supplying support.
