I just noticed a transaction in the check register from Sept 08 that was not reconciled. The trx is an account to account transfer which did take place, and the other account shows the trx as reconciled. Both sides of the transfer show in the bank statement for Sept. I do reconcile all of my accounts every month and the Sept 08 reconciliation was without incident, as I recall. I cannot fathom how I could have an unreconciled trx for Sept, and have everything apparently ok in quicken for Sept, Oct, Nov reconciliations? This is quicken home and business 2006.
I just did Nov reconciliation for all accounts and every opening and closing balance in my quicken matches the bank statement, and all trx are as expected. I don't recall any messages about balances being off when reconciling; I've seen them occasionally over the years but none in at least 3 years.
I can't just set the trx to reconciled, of course. I don't want to create an adjustment; this has to be fixable. I am hoping that someone can give me some clues as to what the error might be in the data? There are no other spurious trx for the same dollar amount that have been reconciled (ie no detectable trx that I mistook for the correct trx). This is a once-every-five-years (for me) oddity that I would really like to solve.
