Asset Class = unclassified

I noticed that a few of my holdings are coming up "unclassified" in the Asset Allocation Graph. The ones that appear this way for me are : Nokia, Nintendo, Veritas, Nortel, and even Fidelity Cash Reserves nok - ntdoy - vrts - nt - fdrxx

How does this happen....

What does it say when you Edit the security in the Security List, in Asset Class?

hi - I first saw them "unclassified" in the Asset Graph, and then went to the List and clicked on the security/edit to see what it showed - "unclassified" which was interesting..... I could maybe see it for the "foreign" stocks, but even Veritas and the Fidelity Cash came up the same way.

I believe that what you see in Security List > Edit is what you get in the Asset Allocation graph. Have you elected to "download asset class" for those securities? I setup Veritas in Quicken and downloaded asset classes; Veritas got "unclassified". Quicken gets its asset classes from Value Line, but I know of no way to prove what Value Line is passing to Quicken. If you are downloading asset classes for those problem securities, try unchecking the download box and setting the values manually. It does not look like their asset class should change over time, so setting it once should take care of the problem.

I came across this in connection with Reinvested dividends. As a consequence of Quicken's odd accounting, the "buy" side of a reinvest has NO category. Thus the assest class comes up as "unclassified".

Huh? What relationship is there between "asset class" and Quicken category? Asset class is something like "Large Cap Stocks", "International Stocks", or "Global Bonds"; the asset class exists independently of Quicken and is either manually entered by the user or downloaded from Value Line. How could a Quicken category have any effect on asset class?
