How are you writing the files to the CD? You can't just copy files to a R/W CD. Normally, you have to burn them with software (Roxio, Nero, etc.). There are programs available (Commercial burning software usually includes one) that allow what is called "packet writing". These make the R/W CD look like a big floppy and you can read/write/delete at will. It's not available automatically, though...

As far as I know, Quicken has NEVER provided a way to "backup" to a CD. My method is to create a file in my Quicken folder called "BackupCD" and set Quicken to save into that folder (rather than the regular Quicken "Backup" folder) Then, after leaving Quicken Program, place an R/W CD in my CD Drive, and copy the file from the "BackupCD" folder on my hard drive and "burn" the file over to the CD. From there I can always copy back into the original Quicken Program "Backup" file as needed.

This also helps when I want to keep Quicken updated on my laptop - just copy the backup file from the CE into the Quicken backup file on the hard drive of my laptop (and vice versa - depending on which computer is used for file entry.) Wouldn't use the same R/W CD too many times, however, since I'm not sure how many write-overs are reliable on R/W.

Hope this helps.

While Quicken may not, Windows does. When I go to close Quicken, the backup window opens and it asks me if I want to use the Windows CD Writing Wizard. I tell it yes, and a small gray icon pops up on my taskbar. I exit Quicken, click on the icon and the wizard opens. I then click on File > Write These Files to CD. And it does....

I use rewritable media.
