Can't create a new income category

I am currently switching from Money 2005, tired of the problems I've experienced there. Now I feel like I'm experiencing similar inexplicable problems in Quicken 2006 Premier.

Most recently: Am trying to clean up my categories list. Have noticed that a lot of my "income" categories (like Wages & Salary) are in the "expense" list. So, I've tried to recategorize them, and even when I do so they still show up as expense categories.

In fact, when I create a new category called "Test" as an income category, it still shows up as an "expense" category (even tho the cat type is "income").

Any thoughts?

Possibly corruption, possibly occuring from the conversion. I doubt you will see that behavior if you create a New Quicken file and add or modify categories there.

If the phenomena appears immediately after the conversion, I would think it's either your Money data or the conversion has a bug. If Money has a utility to clean up its data, I would use that, then redo the conversion.

For the Quicken data: try Validating your fileset (File > File Operations > Validate).
