Converting MS Money 2004 to Quicken 2004 Basic

The saga continues....

I upgraded my MS Money 2002 to 2004 and converted my file. Money is unable to log into my Passport account so I am jumping ship and switching to Quicken. Or at least that's my plan at the moment unless I find I don't like Quicken.

I downloaded the Data Converter tool as suggested in this group. It attempted to import my data but all Payees and Memo Fields are NA. All I get is the category and dollar amount. Is this normal despite the fact that those fields are in the import report created by Money?

Any thoughts as to how to automatically get the saved Payee and memo fields into Quicken? Do I need to upgrade to Quicken Deluxe to get these fields?

TIA, Laura

As previously mentioned here, Q2004 will NOT convert M2004, unless your subject line contains a typo.

Try converting your M2002 to Q2004.

The help page says that it can convert M2003 or LATER to QUicken 2004 or Later. So it should conver 2004 to 2004 without any problems. It won't convert 2002 which is why I upgraded to M2004.

Should I get Q2005?

You are correct. I read it, and that's what it says. I'm stumped, since all I have seen previously says you can't convert the same year.

I called Intuit. Got someone in India (of course). She agreed that the data conversion from MS money 2004 to Quicken 2004 SHOULD work and was clueless as to what happened. She suggested that I go back into Money and export the accounts to QIF format to be imported into Quicken. That worked fine and the accounts are completely populated in Quicken.

I have to say, I thought the wording on the page we were reading was misleading and incorrect -- IOW, I didn't believe Q2004 could convert M2004. I happily admit I was wrong. TY for posting back with the results.

Well, you were partially correct. It did convert the file but not properly. Glad to know that at least for up to 2004 the qif method works. Beginning with Q2005 I'm guessing that's not an option anymore. Thanks for taking the time to help me.
