thinking of changing from MS Money

Buyer beware:

You cannot convert Microsoft Money data to Quicken 2008. Only after buying Quicken and blowing a Sunday afternoon trying to follow Intuit's arcane instructions and digging through the help system--which mostly linked back to the instructions that do not work, I finally found the following Intuit admission that the advertised conver does not work.

Intuit's admission is old, and not quite accurate; here is more recent information that indicates that you didn't do your homework.

didn't do my homework? I searched the site, using their search tool, I believed their posted message that Intuit had no good answer. Gee, I feel stupid now.

I really should have known that Paranoid Mike's blog was a trusted Intuit resource, and manually installing separate DLLs is a normal user requirement

Thanks for pointing out the blog however. I did see it Sunday, but didn't think it could be my best resource. On monday wheh I got back to it, there seemed (to a mere mortal user) to be no longer a reference to the post I saw Sunday.

That was where I started. I followed the instructions faithfully, but the converter errors. that was what led me to the FAQ that said it was a known problem that the converter doesn't convert any MS money 2003+ to quicken

2008

thanks for trying.

According to that one it works with Quicken 2008.

Life's a bitch: then you die.

Your search didn't cover enough ground: the information was available.

More importantly: why didn't you ask questions as part of your "search", before you jumped to false conclusions?

Why do you assume others are responsible for your problmes.

I was relatively certain that someone - like you, for instance - would think that the "solution" I referred to was the "only" solution. Still, I foolishly thought that the existance of a real solution would disprove a false claim ... foolish me.

Folks like you, who prefer to vent your spleen before doing any research, are destined to suffer - why should anyone else care about your suffering?.

There were other users in the Quicken Forums who found other "solutions" to your "problem";which I did not report ... but apparently you don't think it's worthwhile to look before you publish your ignorance - so you can pretend that Intuit and I are the cause of your problem.

I just converted from 'MS Money 2004 Basic' to 'Quicken 2008 Deluxe.' I had fifteen years of all my financial transactions.

I used the converter from the Quicken site.

I had two problems:

  1. Many duplicate transactions which it took three or four hours of my time to correct, but finally the totals came out to the penny.

  1. Most of my memos in the split fields were lost. I have still not replaced all of these missing memos.....there are just too many. When I asked for help on this issue from Quicken, I got a response from one of their techs saying that he did not know whether the converter would work with memos in splits (the moron).
