Two machines on a home network. A has 2001 version. Just installed 2005 on B. Before installing 2005, I made a copy (not Backup) with the 2001 version that WAS on B, renamed it for 2005, placed a copy on B then BACKED up that file to the zip drive connected to A. (The zip drive serves as the backup device for both machines A and B. I don't know if it's important but machine A runs WIN98SE and B runs Windows XP HE).
I have always been confused about the difference between a copy of a Quicken data file and a BACKUP of that same file. Any light shed would be appreciated.
My main question here is ... what do I do next to get that data file that was made in version 2001 into my 2005 version? Q1) Can I simply open Q2005HB and select the file that resides on B? Q2) Must I get that file through RESTORE? Q3) Something is supposed to convert 2001 to 2005 but I'm concerned if I choose COPY rather than RESTORE, something won't convert properly. Is this correct or will the conversion occur on either one?
