Emailing a report

What is the best way to email, or send as an attachment, a quicken report? I tried saving one as XX.prn, but the .prn file was useless, as was one I saved as ascii file. John P

Have they added the capability to export directly to excel yet?

If I know what you mean, I might be able to tell you. Can you tell me exactly what you would expect from that ability?

In Quickbooks I can export a report into excel without having to print to a prn/csv file and parsing it in. The excel spreadsheet is automatically formated to look like the Quickbooks report.

Yes. There are two variations, one of which has existed since at least Q2004, the other since Q2005.

One *is* a tab delimited file which you can create by choosing "Export Data > To Excel compatible format" when a report is displayed. When you open the resulting file in Excel, it does not require any formatting; but you do have to click your way through the Excel delimited file wizard. This is available in Q2005 and Q2006.

The second, though older method, is to copy the report to the Windows clipboard, and paste it into Excel. No Excel dialog to go through, just some columns to expand. The "Copy" option is available directly in a report menu row in Q2004, and in the "Export Data" menu in Q2005 and Q2006.

[It's in that same "Export Data" menu that Q2006 has added the ability to export to a pdf file, though you can also select the Quicken pdf printer as your Quicken printer ... I think the Export Data option is more versatile since you can keep your actual printer as the Quicken default.]

I'm using 2004 basic but never knew about the copy/paste routine. This works for me. Thanks.
