ExercisX missing from 2006 Deluxe?

Hi all,

I just upgraded to Q2006 Deluxe from Q2003 Deluxe on Windows. I had previously setup a collection of employee stock option grants in a separate investment account used for option holdings. I originally did this after our company switched captive brokers for the options transactions. When the switch occurred, I was stuck with a bunch of options attached to the previous brokerage that I couldn't move to the new one without breaking a lot of existing transactions.

Using the "holding" account, I would record and ExercisX transaction in the holding account and then do the actual trades (buy & sell) of the exercised option in the account with the captive broker. This worked well, as I could exercise and transfer the shares to any account if I needed.

With Q2006 Deluxe, I'm noticing that ExercisX seems to be gone as an option for transactions in the register. Is this feature gone completely from Quicken, or was I expected to upgrade to Premier for this?

If it is a feature that's not present in Q2006, are there any other suggestions from the group regarding how to handle employee stock options sensibly?

Thanks Jason

All the 'and transfer' actions were removed from Quicken, starting, I believe, in Q04.

In its place, you use the regular command (eg, Exercise), and then enter the amount in the 'Use cash for this transaction From:' box.

For people not used to the 'and transfer' actions, it's much easier to follow. For us old fogies, it takes a little getting used to.

Does this help?

I think that does help.

I don't know how I didn't notice it before, but the wizard used when recording an employee option exercise actually put in an ExercisX transation. So, I guess I posted for nothing. :|

I seem to remember that ExercisX showed up in the Action dropdown when entering a new transaction, so I guess I didn't even think to do something with the "Enter Transactions" wizard.

Thanks, though!
