Change in captive broker causes option madness

The company I work for recently changed the captive broker through which employees trade company stock. This included options as well as ESPP shares.

I'm in a quandry because of the options. I currently have the options grants setup against another brokerage account, where they have lived happily for several years. Over that time, I've exercised some shares, etc. Now that the captive broker has changed, I want to move these grants over to that account so that I can eventually close the old one. I can't figure out how to do this cleanly in Quicken (I've got 2003 Deluxe on Windows.)

My thought is that the best solution (and would have been the best way to start) would have been to create a new account all together for the options. When I exercise, I would need to log a "cash transfer" from the brokerage account to this option account. Then, show a share transfer out back to the brokerage account that the "cash" came from. This would allow my options to be completely independent from whatever account it's going to hit.

I guess I'm asking for ideas for how to deal with the current situation of lots of reconciled transactions in the old brokerage account. If anyone knows how to move these grants to the new account without borking up the history, I'd appreciate any insight. I think, though, that I'm going to get to spend a nice evening re-writing history to implement the idea I had above to pull them to a separate account.

Thanks, Jason

Goto Account properties. Change account name from Old-Broker to New-Broker. Optional: in comments, add "xfer from Old-broker acct no. ###. on mm-dd-yy"

Forget about Old-Broker, they're history.
