FIA Card Services (Fidelity)... download only at statement end?

Is this true? Seems to be, from searching here, on quickencommunity.com and The Google.

Wow..... what a poor choice.... you mean I can't download data intra-month? I like getting 2% cash back, but not at the expense of having to wait a month to download transactions.

I can't speak for your particular card, but this practice is not uncommon. And I suspect it's going to get more common.

What's the rationale for it becomming more common?

Or is it just a result of card-issuer conglomeration?

Saving money.

Since they have to have the infrastructure there anyway, where is the savings? I can see the transactions online daily, and I can download them monthly, so obviously they have the database backend for select and display, and they have the quicken formatter already built.

It's a completely retarded business decision, and I'll be dropping that card (or, even worse for them, keeping it and just (ab)using the 0% checks I'm sure will be arriving soon........)

I opened a Fidelity SmartCash account several months ago and got this card. When I found out that I was only able to download transactions at statement's end, I cancelled it. IIRC, FIA is what used to be MBNA, crummy bank, IMNSHO. I didn't find this out till the card arrived. 2% or not, the card was not user friendly enough to warrant my keeping it.

FIA is owned by Bank of America since 2005. My BofA Credit Cards (issued by FIA) accessed on the BofA website only had downloads once per month which changed once I got Direct Connect with BofA for my checking. Still I do agree with Margaret, I don't find anything compelling for me to keep the BofA cards and thus rarely use them.

I posted about this a few weeks back: if you have a BoA account, then you can download as often as you want; if you don't, then you can only download once a month. The reason is that only account-holders get to use "direct connect". Non-account-holders have to use 'web connect' and all you can get with web connect is a copy of your last statement.

All my transactions now download normally before the end of the month like all of my other credit cards. I noticed Mint.com was able to download the full daily transaction history but Quicken wasn't, so upon closer inspection of the Mint settings it showed they were using "BankCard services" as the financial institution for the FIA card.

Thanks dekertek!

How would you suggest to change the present Mastercard & American Express cards to Bancard Services in Quicken? The cards are set up with these names at the present time and use ibsnetaccess on the website. Thanks

Is there a way to prevent FIA Card Services from downloading a reference number with each transaction. I never get a "Match" because of this reference number. None of my other cards download reference numbers. Thanks.

Wow, maybe we need to speak their language and just cancel our cards til they give us proper web access and financial software interface.
