Fidelity Money Market suddenly has lost it's $1 asset value

I don't know exactly when this happened but after years of having a $1 asset value, my money market fund has a 0 value, throwing totals off obviously. I also can't manually set it to $1, download price history for it, or add a manual entry to the price history file. It goes thru thu the steps of adding a new price history entry, but it never displays in the table on screen ... just seems to go off to la la land.

This is Quicken 2009. Must have been recent or I would have noticed it. Any ideas?

No problem with Q2009 release R7 yesterday or today, Fidelity's Cash Reserves or Municipal Money Market funds.

I had the same problem with Dreyfus MFs. Of two one would show the $1 per share OK and one would not.

For the one which does NOT show $1 per share, remove the ticker symbol (save in other info), check delete price history, and proceed. Next day should be OK.

I'm not sure which John P you're addressing; and since it seems you've already answered your question, I won't take up too much of your time.

First of all; I never ask Quicken to download Money Market fund prices ... if those prices ever turn out to be other then $1/share, I (and every other holder of that mm fund) will have bigger problems than an incorrect price/share - problems which we'll all probably know about before we figure out how to deal with the "incorrect" mm fund price.

But, more importantly; you may not be aware yet, but Intuit is having some problems with downloaded security prices (I think, just for mutual funds). See:

Thank you.

Through the years, I have seen Quicken download incorrect prices for several (or even - rarely - all) of my securities. I just eliminated the Money Market funds from my downloads to guarantee that they wouldn't ever be affected by any Quicken price download problems ... one less problem to deal with..

Actually, I think that virtually all Money Market funds have a ticker symbol that ends in "...XX". So, if you eliminated securities with those ticker symbols from your price downloads, you'd be doing, pretty much, what I'm doing.

I haven't experienced the problem I reported, in any version of Quicken I'm using/testing (including Q2008, Q2009, Q2010 and Q2011); but a lot of users are reporting the problem in the Quicken community. My sense of the issue is that Q2011 is the vulnerable version ... but I don't have enough information to be certain about that.

[I'm using Windows XP Pro, SP3.]
