Money Market value of 1$

I have a Schwab money market fund that does not show it's value in "Market Value" on the portfolio screen because there is no "quote/price". How can I assign the permanent $1/share to that account? 2011 H&B R8

As long as you download current or historical prices from Quicken, or you download data from your financial institution, you can't guarantee a specific price for a specific security.

Intuit says Quicken doesn't download prices for money market funds (funds whose ticker ends in "XX"). As long as that remains true, there's one source that can't alter your mm fund prices.

But Quicken also gets prices from the holdings downloaded by your financial institution. If those prices are wrong, the only thing you can do is correct them manually after the fact.

So, the only approach I know is to just enter the $1/share price for the mm fund and hope no download replaces it with a wrong price. Quicken uses the most recently dated price, so as long as no wrong price is subsequently entered, the price you entered will be used for all later value computations.

To add or modify a security price:

1.) Select the security in the Security Detail View, click Update > Edit Price History. Then either add a price or modify any existing price.

Or

  1. Investing > Portfolio. Choose a view that displays the "Quote/Price" column. Make sure the "As of" date is the date for the price you want to enter. Then key the price in the Quote/Price cell for the security and tab (or arrow) out of the cell. [You can also click on the security name in the Portfolio view and Quicken will take you to the Security Detail View for that security.]

OK I have tried both methods and the price does not "save" when I exit the respective attempt. Another hint is there is a small clock icon in the quote/price field. is that an issue?

Well the clock icon just means that the displayed price is not current. Hold your cursor on the clock and Quicken should tell you the date the price is for.

The fact that you can not change the price suggests that your price history for that security is corrupted.

The only way out of that predicament (other than restoring a backup from prior to the corruption), is to delete the price history for that security. Since the security is a money market fund, the loss of the history should not be a problem.

To delete corrupted price history: open the Security List and Edit the security. Change the ticker-symbol to some unique unused value (it need not be a real ticker). When Quicken asks what to do with the old prices, tell Quicken to delete them. Then change the ticker back to its correct value.

Then manually enter your price.
