Get rid of Quicken (4)

I have now been using Moneydance for about one month and only have 2 minor issues .. one is a non-match and the other is an unwanted conversion from US to CDN dollars (understandable).



MD has a support site and today I posted the non-match issue, went to the supermarket and when I came back there was a response. Contrast this with Quicken where the help is non existent and people are left to flounder in a newsgroup of the blind leading the blind.



For me the major MD advantages are I can now download from my accounts in Canada, and automatically download exchange rates, and fund prices.

Sounds like MoneyDance is a winner. I downloaded the trial version and it sure looks nice and very adequate. However, why rush into it until one has to. As long as the present Quicken still downloads and works correctly, it seems smarter to wait till one is forced to upgrade Quicken. MD will only be better by then and I can delay learning a new software and its quirks.

I don't know if MD is a winner or not but "However, why rush into it until one has to." certainly is - at least for me. I'm presently on Q2009 and it's not scheduled to be "sunset" until at least

2012 +/- at which time I'll upgrade to the then current version and worry about what happens after that when it happens. To stress-out about now about a 5-year plan seems a bit too early - all kinds of things can (and will) happen in five years.

"Better idea" is to parallel process. It means that you do everything twice, but you can see how it does"what you want done" in Moneydance, while still having the "old way to revert to" if you decide against it.
