Second, I never said that you could use pre-tax dollars for an item and then deduct that same item on Schedule A. I said that even though a person cannot deduct over the counter drugs as Medical Expenses on Schedule A, they could be paid with pre-tax dollars if you have an FSA or Medical Savings Account. Obviously, prescription drugs that are reimbursed by an FSA or similar plan cannot also be deducted on Schedule A.
