How does Quicken 2007 handle options?

Feb 20, 2007 1 Replies

Ive been using Quicken 2005 for mac. It doesnt give you the option for recording options. Any idea how to record? Does the 2007 version for mac include any improvements for Options calls/puts?

Thanks!

Quicken doesn't handle put and call options well at all.

I've been trading those for years and have a work around that works, most of the time.

First, understand that you won't be able to download prices for options because they are not in the database of securities that Quicken uses.

When I sell a covered call against a position I own, I sell short 100 shares at the price. When I either cover it, have it called away or it expires worthless, I cover it at whatever price it went for. Don't forget to cover the position when it expires worthless so you will have a zero balance.
