Investment entry problem

I have had Quicken attempt to track my investments for several years. Due to miscommunications between various brokers and Quicken, there are many placeholder entries and just total screw ups.

I want to delete all the entries -- except for some things I have held for years and then do fresh downloads from my current broker and just start things over as of the beginning of this year.

I can only seem to delete one entry at a time. It won't let me select a group of stocks and delete them as a batch.

Is there some way to do that?

If I delete the entire investment account will it let me create the account again with the same name or will I have to make up some new name?

I plan to just start with my holdings as of Dec 31, 2006 and enter the cash position and the stocks I held on that date and then do fresh downloads of each month since then and try to get Quicken to be correct again.

But I am leery of deleting the entire account.

I would not try to save any transaction that was: for a security that had a placeholder, entered in Quicken after the placeholder was entered, and dated on or before the placeholder date.

No. It's one-at-a-time for investment accounts.

Yes.

You could:

1.) deactivate downloads for the existing account 2.) create a new account 3.) work on the new account until it looks right 4.) delete the old account 5.) rename the new account to the old account
