Q2004 - New ACcount - Placeholder Problems

I have read about Placeholders and the problems that they cause I need help understanding my situation I opened a new brokerage acct and did my first download of transactions The acct is setup so that I review before the items are entered into the register I approved all of the stock purchases (that was all there was) Instead of entering the trades into the acct as approved it entered each one as a placeholder entry Can anyone help me understand why it did this?

TIA

Mark

I'm pretty sure it's looking for further data - such as quantity and purchase price. Click each placeholder entry and it should indicate the missing information.

I downloaded some data from an account I have and got the same result.

What I think happens is Quicken downloads account holdings and compares them to your Quicken account.

If the two do not match (what your brokerage says you have and what Quicken thinks you have), Quicken inserts placeholder entries to allow you to enter the missing transactions.

I think there is an option to turn this feature off.

Hope this helps!

actually I figured out the problem Merrill's website lists trades that haven't settled as pending (even tho they are good trades) Quicken takes this to mean that there are assets but no trades to cover Once the trades settled at ML they d/l fine (once I deleted the placeholders) only bank with this problem
