Loan Transactions

I have set up a loan for my mortgage with a housing asset. When I have a payment from a chequing account I select the house loan as the category and show a transaction (chequing cash decreases but so does the loan). When I view the Cash Flow or Income/Expense reports the mortgage payments and loan payments do not appear. How do you track what your payments are on loans and what reports do they show up on? Am I properly tracking the loan payments putting the category as the loan item? I am using Quicken 2005 XG.

Have you created a split payment (using the loan wizard) that correctly classifies some of your payment as Interest and the rest as principal? Both your loan and cash should reduce for principal repayments, less cash, but also less loan. Transfers of money between accounts are not expenses/income, otherwise you'd have to show the transfer as an expense in one account and an income in another. You should be able to see it in cash flow reports if you inlude the right accounts and select "Show All" for transfers in the report customization.

I think that if you select "Show All" for transfers on the report customization, you might even see it in the income/expense reports, but it will be confusing.
