looking at graphs - quicken 2002

Apr 19, 2005 4 Replies

Hi, wonder if anyone knows a solution for this.

I use quicken 2002 and have large credit card debts (0%) and large savings to balance it out. If I look at a graph of networth it is massive and I would like to trim down the Y-axis so that I can see more easily how things progress from week to week, month to month. At the moment the networth line is very flat because the graph is effectively zoomed out due to having these large assets/debts.

Regards Paul

Sorry, but I have found no solution for you. I do know exactly what you are talking about, though. Some securities have very little price variation and Quicken chooses a scale which makes it "flat line." I have suggested that Intuit fix this (allow the scale factor to be customized like Excel) and you should too (assuming that you do not find an existing solution).

Thanks for the reply.

Good to know I'm not the only one Peter and I wasn't making an elementary mistake. Maybe this is fixed in a later version of quicken and I just need to upgrade. The problem with that solution is that Quicken 2002 seems to be the last version that isn't full of bloatware.

Regards Paul.

Paul,

With each new version (I am at Q2005 PH&B), I eagerly look to see if the graphs have improved. So far, the graphs only change superficially (shading, colors, etc). I would also like to manually change the sizes of graphs in the "Home" pages rather than having auto sizing. Intuit does not seem to consider customizing the graphs to be very important.

Personally, I like 2005 much better than any other previous version. They added some nice features in 2005 that have gotten a lot of use (e.g. Find and Replace, Undo, multiple select for copy/cut/paste). It may be bloatware, but it runs fine on a 2.4G P4 with 1G of RAM.

Thanks for the comments Peter, maybe one day I'll take the plunge and upgrade.

Regards, Paul
