Q '06 Edit 'Gotcha'

Quicken Premier H&B '06 has taken to crashing every time I download a transaction with a new security. (Any suggestions would be appreciated. I already validated.)

The workaround is to create the new security before accepting the downloaded transaction. Then I can match it to the downloaded security and Quicken doesn't crash.

The last time I did this, I confess I used rather a naughty name for the security. Then after matching and accepting the transaction I edited and renamed it.

However, the original, naughty name still appeared in the Payee field of the transaction in the linked checking account.

When I tried to change it in the linked checking account, Quicken gave the error message "You should make this change from the investment account to avoid losing transaction detail."

But when I change the security in the investment account, it doesn't change the transaction in the linked checking account. The naughty name is still there.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the naughty name (short of deleting the whole transaction and reentering it)? I think that's the only way.

I've learned my lesson. No more naughty security names. From now on I'll only use obscene comments about Intuit.
