Q2013 NO UPGRADE PRICE - AGAIN

Intuit offering an upgrade for $10 more than Amazon charges for a Full version is *not* a good deal.

For someone who doesn't have an older version, yes, I agree with you. But if you have the previous year's version, considering how few and how minor the improvements are, I consider it to be *way* too expensive. Very few people would find it worthwhile.

I also usually upgrade every two years, but sometimes I mistakenly think the new version is worth the money and upgrade every year. I'm running 2012 now, so I'm in no hurry to get 2013. But I'll wait for Turbo Tax to be released and will likely buy a package of the two of them at a good price.

The reality is that Intuit can not compete with the retailers, if it expects them to carry its products.

I never said it was a "good deal", just that it appeared that there was an upgrade price available.

I agree, which is why I usually do not upgrade every year, especially since Intuit discontinued the Quicken Basic edition. Even if you do upgrade every year, Quicken is not a break-the-bank program like Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Office.

Here is what I've paid over the last few years for Quicken:

Quicken Basic 2002 $37.96 Quicken Basic 2005 $32.61 Quicken Basic 2006 $29.99 Quicken Deluxe 2007 $32.58 Quicken Deluxe 2010 $43.44 Quicken Deluxe 2011 $32.58

Cal Tinson wrote in the thread "QD 2013 Price" about Quicken prices from Dell. I checked out his link and saw that Dell is offering Quicken Deluxe 2013 (download version) for $40.99. The CD version is $46.99.

By the way,

is currently running Cyber Monday 50% Off Retail sale on both Quicken 2013 and Turbotax 2012. YOu can, for example, buy Quicken Deluxe 2013 for only $34.99.

I agree. I didn't realize it was that "time" already. It is one thing to say they aren't going to support a version anymore, but quite another when they disable features on it so you don't have a choice and have to upgrade.

I upgrade every couple of years but not to the current version. I'm currently on Quicken H & B 2011, which I bought from Ebay in Dec 2011 for $19. I don't need to be at the state of the art in Quicken, and at the time I preferred to wait to see the results of all of you early birds working with version 2012. I buy Turbo Tax Deluxe from Ebay also, but obviously for the current year. Got TT 2012 for $45; prices around here and elsewhere I've seen were $59 (I'm not looking for combo deals).

I do wonder how the Ebay sellers have multiple copies of either of these software packages, but they look completely authentic to me. Come in sealed boxes with sealed cd containers. CD has the usual Quicken motifs.
