Question about Transfers

When creating a transfer transaction should the transaction type be XFER in the withdrawal account and DEP in the receiving account or should both be XFER type transactions?

As far as I know it really doesn't matter. That is I can't think of any reports etc that use it. In fact you can type whatever you want in that field in the register. You can also "transfer" just be using the transfer account from the category drop-down box.

Thanks for the reply. I guess you're right, it really doesn't matter. I did find two reports that use this information, the "Banking Account Details:Month to date" report and the "Banking Account Activity:Year to date" report both have a column for transfers. Looks like the transfer is a negative for the withdrawal account and a positive for the receiving account, as you would expect. Looking at these reports it seems to make sense to mark both as transfers. Thanks again for your thoughts.
