I can't seem to get Quicken 2008 to schedule an interest payment for a Certificate of Deposit (CD). I swear I managed it in Quicken 2005, but in Quicken 2008, I go to Tools | Scheduled Bills & Deposits | Create New | Scheduled Bill or Deposit. On the resulting form, I select the "Account to use" from the drop down list and and Interest from the Method drop down list. Back up at the top of the form, the Payee ought to change to some version of "Security" like it does if Dividend is selected as the Method. Instead, it just stays as a regular Payee and gives me no method to assign the interest to anything (specifically, my CD). Am I missing something? It's not the end of the world: I can always enter the interest transaction manually. But, I'm almost certain this capability used to exist.
Also, even though Quicken 2008 gives a "Buy Bond" method within an investment account. It doesn't give an equivalent "Buy CD." The only meaningful thing the Help file mentions about CDs is to not use the "Buy Bond" method for them and just use what I've always used: set up a security and buy it. As with Savings Bonds, Help is mostly silent about these asset classes.
