Not sure of the best way to do this but I have a government client that pays his bills with depositing directly into my bank account. I don't see a payment type listed for this when applying payments nor am I sure how to make one correctly. I'm sure there's more than 1 way to do this but please suggest the best (and easiest for a newbie) to do this. Thanks very much.

On the drop-down Payment Method list select "Add New". Type "Direct Deposit" (or whatever you wish) and select Payment Type "Other".
This is not a significant issue, you can use it for your own information in whatever way is helpful but it has no real functionality in QuickBooks.
