Selling Calls

Sep 20, 2005 0 Replies

The broker of one of my investment accounts has recently switched to a firm which is not supported by Quicken, so I have to enter all transactions manually. I have bought a treasury index fund which I have entered as a bond. Now I am trying to sell calls on this and based on responses to questions in this forum, have entered is as a short sale for the same bond name that I originally bought. The symbol for the original buy is TLT and the symbol for the short sale is QTLTL94. But I cannot figure out where I should enter this latter symbol. In addition, when I now go to Quicken portfolio view, I see my original bond purchase, but in the shares box it says "0" and there is nothing entered in the "Cost Basis per Share" box. Is this correct?

I am using Quicken 2005 Deluxe release 4 and Windows XP.

Thank you.
