Should I archive?

I have my financial records going back to 1989 when I started online banking. All of this information is in one Q2005 fileset. I'm considering an archive of some of the data because I really don't access it and could always open the archive (right?) if necessary.

My question is does it matter how big the data file gets and what, if any, considerations should I make (taxes, insurance etc.) when deciding the end date for my archive. I'm considering an archive of everything before the year 2000 because it seems a good transition point and the financial records from my ex-wife will be archived much like our marriage.

Thanks for your replies.

This is a common question.

The common response is: Quicken can handle large databases (some people's are over 30Mb). Archive only if it improves the information for you, don't archive just because the files are getting large. Backup regularly, of course.
