Back up Data

Oct 17, 2005 1 Replies

We use QW 2003 Deluxe. I have a (big) puzzle that I can not figure out. About one week ago we started using verizon DSL service. When we backup or data it shows a word pad symbol which I am told is a Microsoft function. Why does it not display a QW logo that it always did prior. This has me stumpted.

PLEASE if anyone has had this happen how did they remedy the problem. With the word pad logo extension I can not open the backup copies. It asks me for the program to open, but Quicken is not one of them listed??

You may want to post this also in one of the verizon newsgroups, probably

0.verizon.adsl. DO NOT CROSSPOST, make it separate posts.

Did you make the mistake to install the Verizon software? Please try removing it all, it just stinks.

Do you have a router? Please also make sure you have a good, uptodate firewall and antivirus. Zone Alarm free works fine for me, and AVG free from Grisoft or Avast are fine free AV programs. If you did install the verizon software, please run Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy, maybe also the free MS antispyware program.

For more info lurk and/or ask questions in alt.privacy.spyware. Good folks and good advice.

I suspect that a file association may have gotten mixed up. However, the icon representing the QDF file does not have a Dollar look to it, but a data look.

Please reply to the newsgroup.
