I had some Comcast Preferred 7% in my portfolio and it was called on
11/25. The transaction showed up as two entries from Schwab in the account register:
Removed - 100 shares purchased at @22.00 Deposit - $2500 sold 100 shares at $25
The problem with this Removed/Deposit approach is that it does not show the gain of $3 per share when I run the Capital Gain report. It just shows the the original cost and sale price as the same and the gain as 0.
The solution to this was to delete the "Removed" and the "Deposit" entries in the account register and create a new "Sold" entry with the appropriate details. Now the capital gain report shows the total gain of $300 for this transaction.
I don't know why this happened since previous transactions from Schwab have been handled properly. Perhaps there is something in the transaction of a called preferred from Schwab that caused the erroneous Removed/Deposit entries in the account register.
Or maybe it is a problem with how Quicken handles called preferred transactions.
