What happenedd to the cost basis?

During April 2010 I transferred shares of Vanguard's mutual fund VTSAX from Vanguard to Schwab Brokerage. In June 2010, I sold those transferred shares in order to buy income-producing stocks.

I believe I transferred the shares properly in Quicken. I used the "XfrShrs" action and it generated a single "Removed" transaction in Vanguard and 19 "Added" transactions in Schwab. These "Addad" transactions reflected the dates when I originally purchased VTSAX in Vanguard, plus all the Dividends in the four years I held the fund. Each of the 19 transactions had appropriate numbers of shares and purchase share prices.

This sale created a taxable event. But the cost basis of VTSAX shows in Quicken reports as 0. All the shares are being charged as Short-term investements in Quicken's Capital Gains reports.

Doing my income taxes has disclosed an injustice Quicken has done to me. Any thoughts about why this might have happened?

Thanks for your opinions? I certainly don't want to repeat this error again in the future.
