Use the Capital Gains Estimator (Investing menu).

Or ...

Customize a view on the Portfolio tab in the Investing Center. In addition to whatever other values you want to see, include the "Holding Period". Possibly also include "Tax Savings Next Period".

Hi, Bill.

In the Portfolio view, note the little "+" in a box before each stock issue Click on this "+" and it will expand your individual lots - including the acquisition date for each lot.

This is not a report, but maybe it will serve your purpose.

John Thanks for the suggestions. The Capital Gains Estimator seems to be oriented towards individual stocks rather than an entire portfolio -- unless I've missed something. I'll try the other suggestion re the Investing Center.

John Well I tried the Investing Center Portfolio tab as you suggested; however I still cannot get the necessary info. I've customized the view and specified the "Holding Period" column, but the display shows no information in that column! What am I missing?

Thanks again for the pointers.

Click the "+" by each security to see the individual lots and their holding periods.

From your first post:

From your previous post:

Indeed. How else to get the "acquisition date for the individual stocks (and/or lots)"? Individual "lots" are the only thing that counts for determining short/long term gains.

I don't see what your reluctance is about individual lots; without considering lots, I can't make any sense out of your original question.

Yeah, that works a bit better. However you have to manually click each and every security and that in itself is a PITA if you have very many. Anyway, that gets the info on the screen, but so far my attempts at printing the results have failed. What I get is a page that looks like it's zoomed out about a gazillion miles. Instead of a report I just see some globs of dots. This is using Acrobat.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll keep trying, but this just shouldn't be this hard!
