My sister donated a number of clothes that belonged to our mother who passed away to the local hospital thrift shop. They were all certainly in 'good' condition. We have the receipt indicating that we made a donation, but it doesn't state how much and - just a generic preprinted statement saying "household items or clothing'). But of course, I do have a list that we wrote so we could inventory what we gave. My question - is this sufficient for the donation deduction? I recently read in the paper we should either have a photograph, or the charity itself indicates on the receipt that the clothes were in 'good' condition. I had planned to use the IT'S DEDUCTIBLE function within Turbo Tax to assign the valuation to the list I have of pants, shirts, etc. Regards -
