"Credit For Other Dependents" Question, Please

Hello,

My son, over the age of 17, qualifies fully as a dependent for me.

So, will take that $ 500 credit, the "Credit for other Dependents".

Can't figure out if you just put it in line 12 a, or that there are also other Forms or Schedules to fill out AND to include with your 1040 Return.

Seems to be contradictory statements regarding what, if any, other Forms need to be completed and returned in order to have this $ 500 credit.

If you folks could help me out as to what is required, would be appreiative. Will blame my ignorance on "old age" now.

Thanks; really appreciate the help, Bob

I assume you are preparing a paper return. As such, you should have the

1040 instructions in front of you. If you do, it tells to use the worksheet in the instructions and that when you get to the end, you will see that it winds up on Line 12a if you are eligible.
