Credit Card Purchase Deliver Other Address

I want to buy some computer equipment for my son and have it delivered to his address in a different town. Can I do this with my credit card or is it delivery only to cardholders address?

If the dealer is happy to agree, then yes. Otherwise no. Ask *them*.

Bitstring , from the wonderful person warthog said

it doesn't =have= to be, but many suppliers insist on it.

If they are happy to take the time to check you are genuine (look your phone number up from name/address on the card database, and ring you there, for instance) they may be willing to supply to alternative address. Many will supply to a work address. Depends on the retailer, the value, etc.

It actually depends on the supplier. Usually card-holder's address only, but some large companies don't have this requirement. Computers are high risk though. Ring and ask.

Only a very foolish dealer will agree to this for an item like a computer.

You can however make a prior arrangement with your CC company that you wish to do this and they will specifically authorise the transactionfor this.

I had this problem last week and I phoned the credit card company and arranged a temporary address which worked out just fine.

I recently purchased some goods from ebuyer.com and they had a rule that your *first* purchase from them had to go to your cardholder address, but sunsequent purchases can be delivered to a different address. I guess you could make a small sundry purchase like some blank cd's for yourself first and then later order the PC and get it sent to your son's home.

As other have said it is up to the supplier. I have been using Dabs for years and they let me arrange delivery to any address I want.

A new customer would be unlikely to get this facility, as always the minority who want to steal everything affect the majority of us who would just like convenient delivery.

Dabs seem happy to ship to an alternate address, I've done it many times. They always used to send the invoice to the cardholder address, but lately they just seem to issue an "E-Receipt".
