extension and payments for wrong entity

There was a mix up over the names. Somebody (not me!) filed an extension for the estate of John Doe instead of for the the John Doe Testimentary Trust. The surviving wife was a trustee and executrix until she passed away in March.

The estate is closed and had no income. Has anybody succeeded in getting an extension payment, etc. moved from one account to another?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried calling the IRS? Possibly e-services (available to EA's, CPA's, etc) could help here? (electronic account resolution application).

Partial success. I finally reached somebody at the IRS that understood that a dead person can't sign a power of attorney. Once I showed that the succeeding trustee was properly named in the trust agreement, the IRS agreed to move all payments to the trust. (Still waiting for the client to send the confirmation.) New Jersey is extremely slow. They keep saying they need more time to review the letter I sent six weeks ago.
