Multiple QB Files - 1 Entity

I have several clients who have multiple QB files for one entity. They do this sometimes out of ignorance but usually because they have different locations and the books are maintained by separate individuals at each location. (I am aware that multiple locations can be tracked by using classes in QB and I have suggested QB online version or using PC Anywhere, etc.but so far no luck). Currently I export the reports from each file into excel and manaully merge them together - very tedious!

Is there a QB add-on software program that I can export the reports to that will do the combining? For several of these companies, we do monthly financials and its quite time consuming to export to Excel each month and format it each time.

Thanks ! Terry

Terry:

This is how to solve the problem. 1) Get together the cost of QB premiere 5 user pack, 1 windoze server license and machine, internet for the server and the client machines, and the cost to install. 2) Figure out how many extra hours you do each and every month on those reports. Multiply by your billing hourly rate. 3) From the numbers you can tell the client that he starts saving $$ after x months. It is still the client's decision, but few see long term savings as bad, unless cash flow sucks that they can't swing for the savings.

I don't know it there is an add-on that will do this. You might be able to do it with careful export and import. Good luck.

Oh, and unless you are on flate rate why do you care? Just more billable hours for you.

I have a better idea. Purchase the Accountants Edition that does this or one of the other third party products and charge them extra anyway.

Golden California Girls - thanks for the suggestion. However, the clients in question won't budge on the multiple QB file issue. Sometimes clients don't see the savings in money as important as what is easier for them. As for the not caring because of the billable hours comment - i already work 12 - 14 hours a day - so I don't need more billable hours!

Allan Martin - I already have the Accountant's Edition - I was not aware of this feature. I spent some time looking on the QB website and could not find reference to how to do it. Maybe I need to look more but time = money !

Karl Irvin - thank you thank you thank you. I'll be contacting you soon regarding purchasing the Report Combiner.

Thanks ! Terry

Hi Terry,

If you can't find a suitable, affordable utility to do this for you, we specialize in reasonably priced custom Quickbooks helper applications. Although we currently do not have a utility that does this specifically, we will gladly provide you with a quote for a utility that does EXACTLY what you need. And no other supporting software will be required.
