I have an aversion to using online tax prep services. I don't like all that personal information together with my SSN stored on their servers. So I opt to purchase the TurboTax CD product.
But I am preparing the tax return for my sister, and she does not share my aversion.
Am I being unduly concerned?
FYI, she will get a refund, and there is no income tax in her state.
So it appears that the TT online service is free. (Really?)
I don't know what they charge for filing electronically. I don't use that service either, even with the CD product. I'm very old school ;-).
Anyway, I just went through the steps of entering the data without setting up an account, and all the numbers match what I got with the CD product.
