Question on IRS tax form 8824

When is IRS form 8824 due to be filed?

For example if I sell a property in Jan 2017 and get an extension to file my federal taxes for 2017 till October 15, 2018 then do I need to file my form 8824 along with my IRS federal tax return in October 2018 or or am I required to file this form 8824 before Oct, 15, 2018?

Form 8824 cannot be filed by itself. It must be attached to your tax return. The due date for Form 8824 is the same as the due date for your tax return, including the extension if you got an extension.

You don't file Form 8824 if you simply sell a property. You only file it if you exchanged a property for another "like-kind" property in a transaction that meets all the requirements for a like-kind exchange.
