Schwab Instructions for Change in 8849 Jan 14 2014

According to Schwab, the IRS has changed the 8849 forms as of Jan 14,

2014 by adding three new boxes - D, E, F. However, the instructions provided by Schwab in the release of their 1099B's will not reflect the new boxes.

Their release as of today 1/31/2014 state that where their instructions call for using Box A, use Box D, for Box B use box E and for Box C use Box F.

Don't know if other brokers will take the same approach or correct the instructions they send out with the 1099B

To clarify: It is long-term transactions that are now D, E and F. Additionally, the notice was specific to Form 1099-B already mailed. Schwab has not said whether their consolidated statements that go out mid-February will have the new or the old set of instructions.

Is this about Form 8849 or Form 8949? Is this an *IRS* update/change/correction, or is it a *Schwab* update/change/correction?
