tax software bug

i am using free software called 1040 now it does fed and for a fee does state--takes data from fed and inserts it into state however there is no wy to modify state data--it is taking non state taxable interest and inserting it into state software--ther is no way to modify the state data' using cpa taxs from last year found the same problem-- same for data done by accounting firm in new york city. sofar have not been able to get response--on-line help from software.

anyone out there had the same problem of inability to modify state data ?

any experience with things like turbo tax fed/state taxware is appreciated.

I use Tax Cut and state tax exempt interests (e.g. T-Bill interests) are entered separately and do not get carried over to the state forms. Something to be said about getting what you paid for.

sorry i should have said t.bills which are state tax free

Most software I've seen allows you to input the interest and mark or code it as income from a federal obligation.

Double check the input screens to see if this option is available (it should be). Then correct the data input problem.
