Advice - Registering Limited Company name

Feb 27, 2004 1 Replies

Hi, am developing a new business but won't be starting it for a year. However, I want to protect the business name. I will be registering the internet domains but can I or should I register the company at companies house? If I did that would that company as far as they are concerned be up and running and I'd have to file all the relevant documents and accounts? Is there anywhere I can protect the business name properly without it costing very much?

Thanks in advance for your help Peter

It only costs about £100 to register a Ltd. company, I would guess that's a drop in the ocean compared with your other costs. If it doesn't trade then it can be left as 'dormant' and the associated annual costs are then trivial. Even a company that is trading doesn't have much in the way of costs that are related to its Ltd. status.
