Any suggestions for an energy supplier to switch to for a British gas customer on the fixed 2007 scheme?

Hi all, currently a customer of British gas on the fixed until 2007 price plan. I`m trying to decide when it will be best to switch supplier - ASAP to try and minimise any further price increases, or wait until the last minute to take full advantage of the currently (fairly) low price before trying to find something as cheap as possible. Does anyone know of a supplier with prices even slightly comparable with the current tariff I`m on?

Thanks for your help!

You've got concerns over gas & elec prices. I think the best way to start is:-

  1. Insulate
  2. Insulate some more
  3. Reduce your use. Turn off pcs at the wall, tvs off at the button, unplug all the bits of satuff you leave plugged in but don't use.
  4. Go round and find the stuff you can unplug too.
  5. Have you turned your thermostat down? (ha! in this weather but in the autumn you'll have to be aware!)
  6. Get double glazing if you haven't already.
  7. Insulate under the floors if you can. Or get thick underlay.
  8. Get some solar stuff

    9. Replace energy inefficient stuf. Defrost the fridge as you should to ensure it stays working right, hoover the back of the fins on it to get the dust off them. 10. boil your veg in the right amount of water, fill kettle appropriately.

After you've done that you can have a look on

Where you'll find some more ideas and a link to some places which offer green and cheaper elecy or price comparers. They're all bound to keep putting up the prices (Although should the really green energy suppliers? after all if they're using renewables they shouldn't be charging more just because the gas prices go up...?)

Cavity wall insulation, double glazing, roof well and truly stuffed with insulation - no real way to improve short of replacing the glazing.

Thermostat is turned down as low as comfortable - warm clothing is the way to go.

Seems expensive, considering there are two of us who don`t use much hot water.

We don`t drink tea or coffee, we drink water :-)

I know, I`m trying to find the cheapest supplier anyway :-)

Good to see someone offering this stuff at sensible prices at last.
