Does anyone know whether there are any limits on the amount of currency that you are allowed to take out the country on ones person?

opertyType=document According to the above, no limit if you're going to another EU country. If you're leaving the EU you have to declare it if it's more than the equivalent of 10,000 Euros. Also the authorities can confiscate any cash if they are suspicious about the source.
