Does anyone know of a good book/s or websites that can teach a novice about how the international financial system works?

I know this is a general question, but even so....Thanks.

Roger Lowenstein's book When Genius Fails.

Although I've never read it, "The Penguin Guide to Finance" might be worth a try.

Financial bookshop here - Doing an internet search on the title will give you further information, reviews and onward links. You can probably get better prices via

once you know what you want.

Browsing the Lex column in the FT or Hamish McRaes column in The Independent as well as The Economist -
