Can I get back overpaid tax Self-Employed

Apr 26, 2004 3 Replies

I paid my usual January payment and because of a dive in my profits it look like no payment is due in July but IR will owe me several thousand pounds.

Do I (or my accountant) claim back and will they issue a cheque or just leave it as a credit until next January payment due?

Phil

bang in your return before July and the payment will be fixed.

The choice is yours.

If you want the money now, make a claim to reduce the POA (Payment On Account). Make certain that you are correct, otherwise you will be charged interest retrospectively.

Thanks for that Doug.

I guess my best bet is to talk to the IR and then get my accountant to get a move on with my annual figures from my year end 31st March.
