Capital gains - Land Secs (or any other who returned capital)

In Jan 1991 I acquired 800 LandSec shares, and in Jan 2005 I sold 700 LandSec shares. As it happens, Land returned capital some years ago, so that the 800 shares became 700 shares - and they gave me some money.

If it were not for the fact that they gave me some money, way back when, I'd just take the cost in 1991, apply the Inflation factor, followed by the taper relief - and, "hey presto" ( I assume). It's the money they gave me, way back when, which worries me. Is it a problem?

I have sold some other things, in case you think I'm being a bit hysterical here :-)

Help !!!
