Car Tax again...

Hi,

Just wondering, can I pay my car tax by Cheque and will they need a Cheque card?

yes you can and now they won't. Its probably more than most cheque cards anyway. They know who you are on account of what you're paying for :-)

I've never given a cheque card. My card only guarantees 100 and my road fund licence is more than that. I've also given my wife a cheque to go and pay it.

Its not as though the licence is more than a piece of paper. If your cheque bounced they could just cancel it.

Yes and no. See the renewal form. Cheque is made out to the Post Office. If it bounces the tax disc is invalid.

Not only that, but when I used to run a company car they took a limited company account cheque.

They do. They say explicitly that if the cheque is dishonoured, the licence will be (have been) void from its start date.
