Does anyone know which bank offers the lowest charges for cashing a US Dollar Check for $514 (Approx 280 GBP) ??
I see Intelligent Finance/Halifax would charge 10 Smile seem to be charging 8
Anyone know any cheaper ones?
Thanks in advance, Daniel

Try Lloyds, but you may have negotiate a little.

Bank that they would not negotiate any cheque for you. They may well collect the cheque on your behalf but the charges would be much higher than you quote. Eric
The lowest charge is irrelevant, you need to see what the final amount of money you get will be, chances are that the ones with the lowest charge will tend to have the worst exchange rates.
If you have an account with them, Nationwide can be quite competitive.
I doubt you will be able to find a bank that will cash the cheque though, if by cashing it you mean you walk in with the cheque and walk out with cash. Foreign cheques generally take a month or two to clear.
No, I understand that I need to pay it into my account and wait - That isn't a problem.
Don't have an account with Nationwide (yet), but thinking of getting one, as their debit card is useful to withdrawing foreign currency abroad (with no charge).
